MAY EVENTS

Thursday, May 1: Hunt for Hidden Treasure

Celebrate Contraband Days with a treasure hunt at the museum! While at the museum, test your strength on Lafitte’s Challenge.

Monday, May 5: It’s Cinco de Mayo!

Let’s Fiesta! Commemorate this Hispanic holiday at the museum and get a taste of authentic Mexican food. Sopillas will be served in the ArtSpace from 11 a.m. -12 p.m.

Friday, May 9: Mother’s Day Event

Let’s show appreciation for mom through art! Bring in a drawing of you and your mom and receive $1.00 off admission (for child and mother only). Artwork will be hung in the ArtSpace.

Saturday, May 10: Sasol’s Second Saturday Science Show

Join Sasol employees at 11 a.m. for Magic with Magnets. Presentation includes magic tricks and demonstrations with the use of “ferro-fluid” and static electricity.

Thursday, May 15: ArtSpace Workshop

Come and create a Candy Dish Creature for all of your sweet treats!
The workshop is free of charge for museum members. Non-members will be charged $1.00 per child.
Each class is limited to 15 children and classes begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Thursday, May 15: Third Thursday

This is a program for families of children with autism spectrum disorders. It is an after-hours opportunity to come and enjoy the museum with families dealing with similar impairments. It also allows parents to help their children develop language and social skills. Admission fees are paid by SWLA Autism Chapter. Donations are welcome.

Saturday, April 17: Artist of the Month

Join local art teacher, Pat Love, for a special two-hour class. This class focuses on the art of painting and the subject matter is Aspen trees. This class is recommended for children in at least the 1^st grade; however, it is open to any museum guests. Space is limited to 15 children and the class is from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Thursday, May 22: Banana Split Day

What do you get when you combine a banana, fruit, chocolate and ice cream? A BANANA SPLIT! Join us from 12-1 p.m. in the ArtSpace and create your own favorite combination of toppings.

Monday, May 26: Memorial Day

In honor of those that sacrificed their lives for our freedom the museum is offering a $1.00 discount to guests wearing RED, WHITE, and BLUE.

Friday, June 6: Report Card Day

The Children's Museum is very proud of area students that earn Honor and Banner Roll throughout the school year. To help acknowledge their hard work we are offering $2.00 off admission for students with either Honor or Banner Roll. Students must present their report card at the front desk in order to receive this discount. Keep up the GOOD WORK!!

Come and create a wind chime to hang outside during the summertime.

Come in, grab a seat and get ready for story time. Mrs. Melanie will read her book, The Invisible Bag. Story begins at 11 a.m. Book signing to follow.

The Children's Museum is collaborating up with Dr. Joe Stark’s office and the Hobo Hotel for Cats to honor National Adopt a Cat Month. Visit the museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and check out our furry friends for adoption!
