About Us

The Children's Museum, established by the Junior League of Lake Charles in 1988, is the home of 19,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits for kids and parents. It is a member of the United Way family of organizations, as well as a recipient of support from the Children's Miracle Network, the Arts and Humanities of Southwest Louisiana, local individuals and corporations, and its many visitors from across the United States and around the world.

The museum enjoys partnerships with the Junior League of Lake Charles, McNeese State University, the Lake Area Industry Alliance, the Newcomers Club of Lake Charles, the Association of Perioperative Nurses, Art Associates of Lake Charles, and the Safety Council of Southwest Louisiana. Recently the museum entered a major partnership with the State of Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish, and the City of Lake Charles.

The museum continues to grow with funds raised through its annual fundraiser "Imagination Celebration" every August. In 2007 the fundraiser raised over $87,000!!!!

The museum has three floors and over 40 hands-on exhibits that provide children and their parents the opportunity to interact, learn and have fun in a safe atmosphere. It offers field trips, birthday parties and special events year round.

April 2008, the museum celebrated its 20th anniversary!
